WORKSHOPS & PRESENTATIONS

Linda Vieira's workshops and presentations cover a wide range of subjects,  including "How An Idea Becomes A Book", which is suitable for adult as well as student audiences.

Her presentations use proven techniques from her more than 30 year career as a classroom teacher, emphasizing non-fiction student writing on a daily basis.

Student projects include daily journals, classroom/school-wide  newspapers and yearbooks, pen-pals, and the development of power  paragraphs and reports in the primary grades.  Pre-and post assessments, as well as bulletin board ideas, are inherent in all her projects.

Mrs. Vieira developed a unique program to teach the scientific method from a language arts perspective to students from kindergarten to 5th grade.  It begins with a classroom presentation called
"Can A Banana Bounce?" and ends with a school-wide Science Showcase.

With district-wide language arts standards as a base, she uses humor and art to develop individual and class projects that cover a wide range of non-fiction and fiction subjects.  Students come away with finished       materials fit for an
Authors Fair, of which they can truly be proud.

Some of her projects are:
"My Mostern" (description), "One Dark Night" (narration and dialogue), "The Eye & I" (record keeping and      reporting), "The Incredible Zoo" (spelling and syllabication), "A First      Report" (outlining and paragraph development), and "Creative Fairy Tales" (sequence and artistic perspective).

Mrs. Vieira created a
character education program in her classroom many years before it became an integral part of the educational system.  Writing-based, it provides on-going assessment for students and parents.  Closely tied to this program is another long-term writing project, "Why I Likes", designed to develop positive  self-esteem while teaching students how to trust and encourage one another.

Using these projects as models, Mrs. Vieira can tailor any theme or subject matter for any teacher at any grade level.  Her professional fee is negotiable.  For single or multi-day scheduling, call 317-913-6819 or email
